The NOMADIC project aims to explore the intersection of digital nomadism, platform capitalism, and urban life. By bringing together a multidisciplinary network of experts, including urban planners, sociologists, anthropologists, and technologists, this initiative investigates how digitalization and platformization are reshaping cities.

Through a comprehensive research approach, NOMADIC focuses on the impacts of digital nomads and gig workers on urban environments, examining new consumption patterns, work cultures, and social dynamics driven by digital platforms.

The project addresses key questions such as:
How are digital platforms transforming urban living, consumption habits, and work culture?
How do nomadic lifestyles influence urban spaces and economies? And how can cities adapt to ensure sustainability, inclusivity, and social equity in the face of these changes?

The NOMADIC project focuses on understanding the transformation of urban life through digital nomadism and platform capitalism in key case study cities, including Lisbon, Madrid, Barcelona, Rome, Seville, New York City, Mexico City, and Buenos Aires. These cities represent a diverse range of urban environments where the intersection of digital work and urban dynamics is being examined.

By analyzing cities across Southern Europe and the Americas, NOMADIC aims to provide actionable insights for urban governance and policy, promoting inclusive and sustainable urban development in the digital era. Through its interdisciplinary collaboration, the project seeks to ensure that urban life in the future is both adaptable and equitable, benefiting all sectors of society in the evolving digital landscape.

NOMADIC Project Objectives:

1. Understand the Impact of Digital Nomadism on Cities: Investigate how digital nomads' lifestyles are transforming social interactions, economic activities, and urban planning.
2. Build a Network of Experts and Key Stakeholders: Establish an international network of professionals, researchers, and communities to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange.
3. Develop Guidelines and Best Practices for Urban Policies: Create evidence-based guidelines to help decision-makers develop inclusive and sustainable strategies in digital urban environments.
4. Train Researchers and Professionals: Provide advanced training for researchers and professionals in the interdisciplinary aspects of digital urbanism, platform economies, and their implications for public policy.

These objectives aim to ensure that European cities are more inclusive, adaptive, and sustainable in the context of digital nomadism and technological transformation.

The NOMADIC project explores the intersection of digital nomadism, platform capitalism, and urban life, aiming to understand the transformation of cities through digitalization and the rise of nomadic lifestyles. The project brings together a multidisciplinary network to investigate how these changes impact urban spaces, social structures, and work cultures in the context of platform capitalism.
