The main objective of the following text is to offer a feasible hypothesis that helps explain some of the operational anomalies detected in applications such as Uber. These operational anomalies were identified during extensive fieldwork carried out by the author with the aim of producing the material necessary to write his doctoral thesis. By anomalies, we are referring to evidence and findings that have been compiled during this fieldwork. Specifically, we will focus on those clear signs of a clear disparity in criteria when setting prices for services provided by workers on on-demand travel platforms such as Uber.
