Today's social and economic life is marked by the intermediation of technological and economic giants that have radically changed essential aspects of labour markets, consumption patterns, asset profitability, relationships between companies and between people, and also the social and personal imagination of individuals and social groups.
A large number of terms have been coined to try to capture these essential aspects of social and economic evolution in recent decades: platform capitalism, gig economy, Uberisation, etc.
Some economic sectors or forms of consumption, such as home delivery and real estate brokerage, have been completely transformed before our very eyes. In other sectors, such as care and personal services, the transformations have been more subtle but no less radical, while in others, the changes have gone unnoticed or opacity has been deliberately sought.
