Debate at COAM: Critical architecture sessions.
Javier Gil, Javier Burón, Jorge Galindo, Rocío Calzado.
7 October 2025
Colegio Oficial de Arquitectos de Madrid (COAM), 63 Hortaleza Street. Madrid

COAM is reviving its Critical Architecture Sessions, a series of monographic debates that Carlos de Miguel promoted through the Revista Nacional de Arquitectura (National Architecture Magazine) from 1950 onwards for almost two decades.

Dedicated to the issue of housing and led by Inmaculada Maluenda, researcher and architecture critic, the first day will focus on addressing, among other issues, the evolution of the home from its understanding as an essential need to its current development as a financial asset and reflection of social inequality.

The participation of expert voices such as Javier Burón, Rocío Calzado, Javier Gil and Jorge Galindo will provide current data and studies, the result of their work and research in markets, audiovisual productions, sociology and economic policies, to understand why housing is now emerging as one of our main problems, a growing concern for the younger generations. The institutional presentation will be given by Pablo Olalquiaga, vice-dean of COAM, and Jerónimo Escalera, manager of EMVS in Madrid.
